Ole Miss football fans became quite accustomed to watching Matt Corral throw touchdown passes this past season. It looks like the junior hasn’t lost his touch at all.

The Rebels Football account posted a video on Twitter of Corral connecting with receiver Dannis Jackson for a long touchdown at Saturday’s practice.

Matt Corral finished with 3,337 yards passing and 29 touchdowns in the and made many plays similar to the throw he had in practice. The Rebels had the third-best passing offense in the SEC behind Alabama and Florida. However, they finished just 5-5.

Ole Miss enters this fall with much higher aspirations. It was picked to finish fourth in the SEC West in the preseason media poll. Can Kiffin lead them to a big jump this year?

If he can, Corral will be a big part of that. The quarterback saw a huge leap in production during Kiffin’s first season. He more than doubled the amount of passing yards and threw nearly five times as many touchdowns.

He finished third among quarterbacks in the conference in passing yards and touchdowns last season and is the leading returner in both categories.

If there is anything he needs to work on, it’s interceptions. He threw 14 this past season to give him about a 2:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Matt Corral loses his top two targets to throw to from last season in receiver Elijah Moore and tight end Kenny Yeboah. Receivers Dontario Drummond and Jonathan Mingo are slated to take on much larger roles. It will be interesting to see how the loss of Moore, who finished second in the NCAA in receiving yards, will affect the offense.

The Rebels open the season on Sept. 6 against Louisville. Their SEC schedule includes games against Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M. They are looking to finish above .500 for the first time since 2015. To get there, they’ll need Matt Corral to throw more passes like the one he did Saturday.
