By now it is clear that Ole Miss has some of the best offensive playmakers in college football, and they are already making an impact in the Rebels’ game against Alabama.

On 2nd and 19, Ole Miss quarterback Matt Corral tossed a boundary pass to Sanders, and Sanders somehow came down with what could be an early catch of the year candidate. Sanders spun around and made the one-handed grab.

The pass went for 18 yards, but the drive ultimately stalled out as the Rebels turned the ball over on downs.

At the end of the first quarter, Alabama leads the Rebels 7-0 after a Bryce Young to John Metchie score. The two Heisman candidates are off to a great start, as Corral is 7-for-8 for 53 yards and Young is 6-for-6 with 65 yards and the score.

Sanders, a fifth year senior exercising an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19 rules, has played in 34 games with eight starts prior to this year.

This season, prior to Saturday, he has eight receptions for 133 yards and two touchdowns.

He is part of an Ole Miss offense leading the nation with 635.3 yards and 52.7 points per game, one which is smattered with playmakers.

Corral, who is now a Heisman frontrunner, is averaging over 10 yards per pass attempt. He has yet to throw an interception this season, a significant improvement from the 14 he tossed last season.

In addition to Corral, running backs Jerrion Ealy, Henry Parrish, Jr. and Snoop Conner lead a Rebels’ rushing attack posting 298.7 yards per game. Wide receivers Dontario Drummond, Jonathan Mingo and Braylon Sanders are averaging 17.7 yards per reception, although Mingo will be unavailable for the near future with a broken foot.
