With less than five minutes to go, Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada made one of his most costly mistakes of the game, throwing a pick-six to the Ole Miss defense. AJ Finely caught the pass and sprinted 52 yards to the end zone to give the Rebels a 29-13 lead.

The interception was the second of the game for Calzada, with the other also coming in the fourth quarter. With a little more than seven minutes to go, the Aggies trailed just 15-13. Backed up inside his own 20-yard line, Calzada threw a pass to Demond Demas, who bobbled it before Ole Miss’ Ashanti Cistrunk snatched it.

Demas came back to the ball and the two players fought over it, but it was ultimately ruled a Rebels interception. The play was perhaps the biggest of the evening, as Ole Miss scored on the ensuing drive to make it a two-possession game once more.

Texas A&M came back to score a touchdown of its own following the Ole Miss pick-six, but it wasn’t enough. The Aggies ultimately lost by a score of 29-19. The Rebels moved to 4-2 in conference play and second place in the SEC West with the victory.

Ole Miss will likely won’t get the opportunity to play for a conference championship, but still has a chance to make its first New Year’s Six Bowl since 2015. The Rebels made the Sugar Bowl that season, defeating Oklahoma State.

Heisman hopeful quarterback Matt Corral is a big reason why this season has been so successful. He has been battling an injury in recent weeks but still managed to finish with 247 yards and a touchdown Saturday, taking a backseat to the play of the defense.

The Rebels have a pair of games against Vanderbilt and Mississippi State to close the season. They’ll first face the Commodores next Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
