Oral Roberts starting pitcher Cade Denton thanked Oral Roberts fans for their support during the College World Series after being eliminated.

Denton pitched four innings in the Golden Eagles’ final loss of the season to TCU. He came up huge in that game, helping Oral Roberts to stay in that game and giving the team a shot to come back and extend the season.

“I’d just like to thank the fans,” Cade Denton said. “I mean, the support they’ve shown over the past three weeks in Stillwater and Eugene and here in Omaha, it’s been amazing.”

Denton emphasized that he hasn’t seen anything like this in his career and the fan support is coming from more people than those currently involved at Oral Roberts.

“I haven’t seen anything like it in my career playing baseball. I’ve seen so many people from so many different walks of life come out and support, whether they’re ORU alum, friends of ORU alum, friends of players from years past, or just people who want to come out and support the school.”

This season, Cade Denton has been huge for Oral Roberts out of the bullpen, pitching 64 innings with only a 1.83 ERA. He also recorded 15 saves.

“So, it’s been amazing. Like I said, I just thank the fans for their undying support for us this run.”

Cade Denton also played a key role in Oral Roberts’ initial win over TCU in Omaha. After that game, he described how he kept his nerves down in that game.

“Man, like you said, fouling off a lot of pitches. I wasn’t making the pitches I wanted to. On the strikeout I than finally executed a slider where I needed it to be. Got a swing and miss. That gave me little boost of confidence,” Denton said.

“And obviously I knew I just need to fill up the zone and trust my stuff. I got pretty good stuff whenever I’m in my best. So I knew if I just filled up the zone there and eve.”

Ryan Folmar on what this Oral Roberts team means to him

After being eliminated by TCU, Oral Roberts head coach Ryan Folmar opened up about what this year’s team means to him.

“What it means historically, I don’t know yet. We’ll take some time and process that now that we’re done. But when you’re in the moment, I don’t think you really think in those terms in the moment,” Folmar said.

“It was a lot of fun to watch, too. I’ve said this, I’ve had the best seat in the house all year long. And what a fun group to be able to be a part of.”
