Bo Nix becomes first player responsible for 55 touchdowns for two schools
On Saturday, quarterback Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks beat the Colorado Buffaloes in a blowout. Nix was dominant in the win and, in the process, made a little bit of history.
Bo Nix was responsible for three passing touchdowns and a rushing touchdown in the game. That brought his Oregon career total in passing touchdowns to 40 and rushing touchdowns to 15 for a total of 55. With that, he became the first player to be responsible for 55 touchdowns at two different schools, per SportsCenter.
Of course, Nix started his career at Auburn before transferring to Oregon ahead of the 2022 season. During that time with the Tigers, he scored a total of 57 touchdowns. So, by the time Nix is done, the record will likely be 57 touchdowns at two different schools.
Bo Nix got to Oregon alongside head coach Dan Lanning. Together, the pair has made the Ducks one of the most exciting programs in the country, looking to compete for a College Football Playoff spot this season.
After that win over Colorado, Lanning reflected on Nix, praising him as one of the best quarterbacks in the country.
“We’ve got the best quarterback in the nation,” Lanning said. “I know that; I can see that. You see all the plays that he throws and all the plays he can make with his feet. But you guys don’t see all the checks that he makes, you don’t see what he does for this team, you don’t see his leadership. He sent a text this morning to me that was impactful for me. That guy shapes me; that guy makes me a better person. And we got that guy on our team. So, we’re so blessed to have him.”
When Bo Nix decided to transfer, it was a bit of a surprise. That’s because his father played at Auburn where Nix was a three-year starter at quarterback. However, with the one-time transfer rule, Nix saw an opportunity to move on and reset his career.

That’s happened and more. Now, Nix is a Heisman Trophy candidate and is competing to win the Pac-12 as a fifth-year senior.
Bo Nix is at Oregon to win a championship
Coming into the season, Oregon began a campaign for Bo Nix to win the Heisman Trophy this season. That included putting up a massive billboard of Nix in New York City.
Once that billboard was up, Nix was asked about his thoughts on it. However, he dismissed the idea of playing for personal achievements and said he wants a championship.
“It’s cool. Those designers, they’re good at what they do and they saw an opportunity and went with it. I never thought I’d be able to see that in myself, but an opportunity presents itself and you get to play with guys like I do and for coaches like I do and all of a sudden you’re in that situation,” Nix said.
“They sure can’t give you a Heisman, so that’s not the reason I came back. I came back to win a championship and I came back to play with my teammates one more time and play at Oregon one more time. Have a season with the fans and the history one more time. All that can take care of itself.”
