Bo Nix has flipped the script on his season and career during his seven games as QB1 for Oregon. After three years at Auburn, he transferred to Eugene and is now leading an eighth-ranked Ducks team that sits in the driver’s seat in the Pac-12. He credits it all to a new level of comfort he feels in his new home.

Nix talked about his improved level of play during media after Oregon’s massive 45-30 win over UCLA. He says he credits it all to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Kenny Dillingham as well as his offensive weapons for making life easy on him and helping his numbers look as good as they do.

“I think it’s just scheme and just the players around me. I think we’ve done such a good job of just running the play that’s called out there. When I’m doing it, it feels like I’m not doing a whole lot because I don’t have to. I just gotta get the ball to the playmakers around me,” said Nix. “Then Coach Dillingham has constantly put us in really good situations. We’re really comfortable with the plays he calls. I always feel like we get plays called at the right time. We’re doing great with our shots, explosive plays. And not only that but, when we’re calling them, we’re hitting them.”

Nix is at the helm of a Duck offense that ranks seventh in the nation with an average of 42.4 points per game. While he credits his teammates, Nix has been spectacular in his own right. He has completed 71.5% of his passes for 1,809 yards and 17 touchdowns. Nix has rushed for 382 yards and eight touchdowns as well. All in all, he has played fantastic football since struggling in Oregon’s opener against Georgia.

Nix left The Plains as a player whom people had their doubts about. His performance in their opening loss in Atlanta only highlighted those concerns. Since then, though, he’s been one of the best quarterbacks in the country and it’s only that much better considering his team’s success. Nix’s improvement has been a welcome sight and it has Oregon in striking distance of the conference title, the conference championship game, and, potentially, the College Football Playoff.
