Bo Nix explains importance of winning Holiday Bowl, decision to return next year
After leading Oregon to a game-winning drive in the Holiday Bowl, quarterback Bo Nix shared what led to his decision to return next year. The Ducks won 28-27 on Wednesday night after Nix’s two-minute drive to erase a six-point deficit, and after the game Nix was proud of how his teammates stepped up all game long.
According to Nix, the mission for him at Oregon isn’t over yet despite ending this season on a high note with ten wins.

“Well, we were able to deliver because our defense stopped them and held them up pretty big,” said Nix to FOX Sports‘ Jenny Taft after the win. “I mean, when their number was called, they all answered. Huge stops down there in the red zone, forced a field goal and a stop. We couldn’t have done it without them. Just a complete team game. You look at all of us, everybody made a play. Couldn’t have done it without each and every one of them. Praise God and I’m just so blessed and honored to be a part of such a great team with unbelievable coaches and unbelievable teammates.”
Nix was then asked about how it felt to celebrate this win with the fans and what led to his decision to come back to Oregon for the 2023 season — and how he felt facing preparations for that season.

“We just got a good off-season ahead of us, it’s important for us. And I came back because I feel like there’s some things in college that I wanted to do and so I didn’t want to pass up on that opportunity. So we’re gonna have a good offseason, we’re gonna prepare and it’s gonna be fun.
“It’s unbelievable. I mean, ten wins… to send our seniors out this way… all of those guys that are about to depart from us. I couldn’t be prouder of those guys and just how they battled their way through today. It was a complete team win and I’m so happy right now.”
