Oregon quarterback Bo Nix has seen his face pop up all over the country on billboards making an early case for his Heisman campaign. The first arose in midtown Manhattan, while another later made its debut in Dallas, both many miles away from Eugene.

The billboards feature Nix in his Ducks uniform along with the word “BOdacious” underneath, with the “BO” highlighted in large green text.

“It’s cool,” Nix told reporters Wednesday. “Those designers, they’re good at what they do and they saw an opportunity and went with it. I never thought I’d be able to see that in myself, but an opportunity presents itself and you get to play with guys like I do and for coaches like I do and all of a sudden you’re in that situation.”

It’s a testament to how far Nix has come since transferring from Auburn last year. He went on to have the best season of his college career, throwing for 3,593 yards, 29 touchdowns as seven touchdowns as the Ducks finished 10-3 and won the Holiday Bowl.

That has led to some serious hype after Nix decided to return for a final year at Oregon. He enters the season tied for the seventh-best odds to win the Heisman Trophy according to VegasInsider. However, the quarterback has much larger goals for 2023 than even the most prestigious individual honor he could achieve.

“They sure can’t give you a Heisman, so that’s not the reason I came back,” Nix said. “I came back to win a championship and I came back to play with my teammates one more time and play at Oregon one more time. Have a season with the fans and the history one more time. All that can take care of itself.”

Oregon has not made the College Football Playoff since 2014. The Ducks were in the conversation last year before dropping two of their final three games of the regular season.

As Bo Nix attempts to lead them to the CFP in 2023, he’ll have some extra eyes on him thanks to the billboards Oregon put up. He believes that shows just how special of a program the Ducks have and he wouldn’t rather be anywhere else.

“It’s a lot bigger than me,” Nix said. “But it is a blessing to be in that opportunity. To be in that position. I couldn’t have done it without my teammates, first of all, to even be in this situation that somebody even wants to do that for me.

“It speaks to the university. It speaks to the football program. It speaks to how prestigious it is to go to a place like Oregon and how one time you’re on one side and you get to a school like Oregon and all of a sudden how things can change and how your story can change. So I’m just blessed.”
