Bo Nix says ankle is 'getting better' ahead of Holiday Bowl game vs North Carolina
The final three games of Oregon‘s regular season saw the Ducks drop from potential playoff contenders to missing out on the Pac-12 Conference championship game and ending the regular season with three loses.
Add in the fact that star quarterback Bo Nix was battling an ankle injury through that final stretch didn’t help Oregon’s case, either. Starting the season 8-1, the Ducks dropped two of their last three games by a combined seven points against two ranked opponents. At the time, head coach Dan Lanning said Nix was playing on one leg.
Now that he’s been given some time to rest, Nix updated the status of his injury following Friday’s practice as Oregon continues preparations for its date against North Carolina in the Holiday Bowl.
“It’s getting better,” Nix said. “Trainers are still doing a really good job, I’m in there a lot for treatment. It’s doing a lot better than what it was.”

On top of rehabbing and going through bowl prep, Nix also has a huge decision that he’ll have to make sooner rather than later – whether he’s staying in school or leaving for the 2023 NFL Draft. Nix’s draft stock soared during the 2022 season but with one more year of eligibility left, Nix isn’t sure what the future holds just yet.
“Yeah, I wanna know too,” Nix said about his decision for 2023. “Still trying to figure that out myself and we’ll decide later. … There’s a few things that are on both sides you got to look at. But as I’m putting that together, I’m just trying to get ready for this bowl game and get ready for North Carolina and just do well at practice and continue to get better myself.”
Kickoff between the Ducks and Tar Heels is set for Dec. 28 at 8 p.m. ET live on Fox. Oregon has opened as 13.5-point favorites over UNC.
