As a program, Oregon has become synonymous with Nike and wearing unique uniforms. That couldn’t be anything further from how things were at Auburn for quarterback Bo Nix, where there is a lot of pride in the team’s traditional uniform. However, as Nix will tell you, those uniforms are part of what makes Oregon special.

While speaking to the media, Bo Nix was asked for his thoughts on the Oregon uniforms this week. When Oregon plays UCLA they are going to be wearing black with pink for breast cancer awareness.

“Yeah, I mean, it goes back to Oregon being Oregon,” Bo Nix said. “Nike being who they are and Oregon being one of those main brands that gets to kind of advertise for it.”

“So, I think it’s gonna be great and obviously breast cancer awareness is a really important thing for a lot of people. It’s important for me.”

Bo Nix then explained that breast cancer is something that affects most people in some way and that he personally knows people who have suffered from it.

“I’ve had several family friends that have gone through that, and so I understand what it means and it’s just really important that you bring awareness to that and show honor to those people who have been through that.”

Oregon will host UCLA at 3:30 PM ET on Saturday, with ESPN’s College GameDay in attendance.

Chip Kelly didn’t decide on the Oregon uniforms

Chip Kelly was asked if he had any impact on the uniforms at Oregon. He insisted that he didn’t. Rather, he left the designs and decisions up to Nike and the designers there.

“No, and nor should I,” Chip Kelly said.

“Nike’s got an unbelievable design team. So, my background’s not in design of uniforms, so Tinker Hatfield did a great job with that, and then the rest of the guys up there. So, you know that’s what they’re known for and they do an unbelievable job.”
