Oregon is readying to play Stanford and write another chapter in their historic rivalry, but Bo Nix is joining the fray for the first time.
While Nix isn’t new to rivalries after playing in some pretty huge ones within the SEC, the former Auburn quarterback turned Oregon starter is getting his first taste of one of the Pac-12’s biggest. Speaking with the media ahead of the showdown, Nix elaborated on his thoughts regarding the Ducks’ rivalry matchup.

“I’ve heard quite a few things about Stanford,” responded Nix. “At the end of the day, you’ve just got to respect your opponent each week. Historically, they’ve been really good, and have presented challenges for us. At the same time, we know we’re really good, so we just have to go out there and play like it.
“Again, it goes back to playing Oregon, and playing against ourselves each and every day to be the best team that we can be on Saturdays.”
Last season, Oregon fell to Stanford 31-24, and historically have a record of 35-49-1 against the Cardinal. In his first taste of the rivalry, Nix will be looking to get a victory — but the anticipation has been building for awhile for the quarterback.

“Yeah, that’s important, and then it’s just locker room talk. You kind of hear it when things come up,” answered the Oregon quarterback, when asked about familiarizing himself with the Ducks’ rivalries. “Then national football, college football, national stage, you kind of know that Oregon and Stanford has always been a really good game, and there’s been some really good players playing in it.
“Historically, it’s just a good one to watch. So we know that’s what we’re going to get Saturday.”
After a rough start to begin the season against Georgia, Nix has come into his own for the Ducks. Over the 2022 season thus far, the transfer quarterback has amassed 1,100 passing yards and ten touchdowns, completing 72% of his passes.
On Saturday, Bo Nix can endear himself even more to Oregon fans with a victory over Stanford, the game taking place at 11:00 p.m. ET on FS1.
