Bo Nix undergoing pregame warmups despite injury status vs Utah
The Oregon Ducks got some incredible news late on Saturday night ahead of their highly anticipated matchup with the Utah Utes. The Ducks’ dynamic dual-threat quarterback, Bo Nix, was surprisingly seen warming up before the game, according to James Crepea of The Oregonian. Many people assumed all day Saturday that there was no way Nix would play against Utah. However, it appears that he could be playing. The signal-caller was seen in full pads a little bit more than an hour before the 10:30 PM EST kickoff.
Nix has put up incredible stats this season and has been mentioned as a Heisman candidate by many people in the national media. He’s thrown for 2,775 passing yards, while tossing 24 touchdowns and just five interceptions. As a runner, he’s ran for 516 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground on just 78 carries.
Late last weekend in the Ducks’ loss against the Washington Huskies, Nix injured his left ankle late in the fourth quarter and had to exit the game. He later returned but was clearly hobbled. If he has any sort of trouble with his ankle or re-aggravates it on Saturday night, look for Ty Thompson to come in at quarterback for Oregon.

In the first half of Saturday’s game, Nix completed 16 of 21 passes (completing 76.2 percent) for 189 passing yards, while tossing in one touchdown and no interceptions. He’s had a remarkable resurrection of his college football career this season and he looks like a completely different quarterback than he did at Auburn. Credit to Ducks’ offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham, who’s done a marvelous job with Nix this season. He’ll likely be one of the finalists for the Broyles Award–given to the nation’s top assistant coach.
At halftime, Oregon leads Saturday night’s game 17-3. They’re looking to avenge last year’s loss to the Utes. Utah won that one, 38-7.
