College football insider reveals interesting stat about Oregon football, praises assistant coach
Through seven games, the Oregon Ducks offensive line has allowed just one sack.
Their 6-1 start is no surprise, given the success the offensive line has had this year. Their prowess in the trenches have directly translated to Bo Nix being one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the Pac-12. Giving him time in the pocket has helped develop his poise in the pocket, and in turn, has opened up the run game for the Ducks in a huge way.
“For context last year Army led the nation’s in fewest sacks with 7 in 13 games but Army averaged 8 passes a game. Oregon averages 33,” Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman tweeted. “Impressive job by new OL coach Adrian Klemm.”

At Auburn, Nix was sacked 50 times over three years (17, 21, 12). Never exactly having enough time in the pocket against those SEC defenses, Nix was forced to make plays with his legs – for better or for worse – and was heavily criticized for his decision-making throughout his tenure there.
Now a senior at Oregon, Nix is off to the best start of his career. With a 17-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio, a completion percentage of 71.5 percent (a career-high), and nearly 2,000 passing yards to his credit this season, his poise in the pocket has never looked better.

Add in his dual-threat ability that he was once criticized for, and Nix has been an unstoppable force since getting blown out by No. 1 Georgia in the season-opener. Just six yards shy of tying his career-high in rushing yards (388), the Auburn transfer has accounted for eight more touchdowns on the ground, the most on the team.
Nix has several men to thank for the stellar start to his season. His main offensive line group, TJ Bass, Ryan Walk, Alex Forsyth, Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu, and Steven Jones, who combine for more than 80 starts, are the unsung heroes of the Oregon Ducks’ offensive prowess.
As they continue to control the line line of scrimmage, the Ducks control their own destiny when it comes to their chances to play of a Pac-12 Championship, Rose Bowl, or even a potential College Football Playoff appearance are all on the table for Oregon as Week 9 approaches.
