Dan Lanning: A lot of guys have seen dramatic improvement on Oregon's roster
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning said after a recent practice that he feels like he has seen a lot of improvements from players on the Ducks roster.
“I’ve seen a lot of guys make dramatic improvements,” Lanning said. “You talking about intrinsic motivation, you have to be motivate yourself. I think you’re starting to see that show up with some of these guys. The guys that have really taken advantage of it, they’re they’re taking big strides and they’re going to put themselves in position to make an impact for our team.”
The question comes after being asked just a few days ago about what have been the type of improvements he has seen from the team.
“Yeah, I think we’re faster. I think we’re bigger. I think we’re stronger,” Lanning said. “And I think that’s, you know, really a credit to our weight room staff, you know, really that whole group in there. I mean, we just got a bunch of guys that have done a great job with the offseason training. And then we do a good job of monitoring it too and making sure we continue to hit high speeds.”
During that earlier press conference, Lanning was also asked about the upcoming spring game and he hopes to see those improvements show themselves on the field.

Lanning said it will involve putting the players in scenarios that force them to react and make the right reads.
“We’ll just incorporate a couple more situations,” Lanning said. “Try to create the game before the game, talking about scenarios about when it’s right to go down as a runner in bounds as opposed to out of bounds, situational football like that.”
“You got to figure out, OK, who are the guys that we make sure we get on the field and get involved? Who are the guys that are close that we can get in there if we coach the technique properly?
