Dan Landing is offering up a trio of injury updates ahead of Oregon beginning their quest for a national title during their first season in the Big Ten Conference in 2024.

While activities ramp up, running back Noah Whittington, kicker Andrew Boyle and offensive lineman Dave Iuli have been sidelined a bit over the last month and change. Reporters inquired on their status as the summer rages on, and Lanning shared an update earlier this week.

He responded with a positive update on the trio of Ducks: “Yeah, I think we’ll see all of those guys in action,” the Oregon leader said.

That’s big news for the Ducks. Whittington is entering his third season with the team, after beginning his career with Western Kentucky. Last season, he rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns for Lanning’s squad.

On the other hand, Boyle hasn’t appeared in a game for Oregon yet, after joining the Ducks after one season with the Washington State Cougars. Meanwhile,, Iuli played sparingly along Oregon’s top tier offensive line, fitting in mostly at left guard throughout last season, and he could be in line for more snaps in 2024.

At the very least, it seems as if Dan Lanning’s squad will be relatively healthy entering the season. A new era is upon the Ducks in the Big Ten, and Oregon will open up their season against Idaho on Aug. 31.

At Big Ten Media Days last week, the league’s preseason media poll was released from Cleveland.com. Within those votes was the naming of Lanning as the Preseason Coach of the Year.

Lanning’s entering his third year as a head coach in Eugene. In that time, he has posted a record of 22-5 (.815), including a 15-4 (.789) mark in the Pac-12. In 2023, that led to an appearance in the Pac-12 Championship, which they lost to the eventual national runner-up in Washington.

That span has also led to a pair of wins in top bowl games. However, neither double-digit win finish have yet earned them appearances in the College Football Playoff.

This all comes after Lanning’s past decade and a half in coaching. That span included several stops around the college level with the most notable being jobs on Nick Saban’s staff at Alabama as well as Kirby Smart’s at Georgia.

Dan Lanning is one of the most highly-regarded coaches in the country, even at his age of just 38. That’s clear based on this latest distinction from his new conference in the Big Ten.
