The Oregon Ducks and Dan Lanning had one of the more impressive victories of the 2023 college football season on Saturday. The Ducks went into Salt Lake City and absolutely obliterated the Utah Utes, 35-6, in front of their home crowd.

It was a crystal-clear message that the Ducks should be a force to be reckoned with the rest of the way. Following the blowout victory, Lanning was obviously pleased with his team’s showing. He spoke with Fox’s Jenny Taft following the game on the field in Rice-Eccles Stadium.

“We’ve got a special team. We’ve got a special quarterback. I think everybody in the country can see that,” Lanning said.

Bo Nix had another great showing on Saturday. He completed 24 of 31 passes for 248 passing yards, while tossing in two touchdowns. As a runner, he also had eight rushing yards and a touchdown.

The Oregon defense had a dominant showing. What went into their team’s toughness? “It goes back to Tuesday and Wednesday and the preparation that exists. We knew we were playing a tough team today. But our team wanted to let everybody know that we’re tough, too,” Lanning continued.

Three of the Ducks’ next four games are at home. What does Lanning want to see from his team moving forward considering how great his squad is playing right now?

“Well, we want to play our best ball at the end of the season. So, we want to keep growing. And I thought, today was our first four-quarter game. We played four quarters of football. We want to see that carry over to next week and in the future,” the Ducks head man noted on the field after the win.

Oregon now sits at 7-1 on the 2023 campaign, including 4-1 in the Pac-12.

Dan Lanning had to have been proud of his whole team on Saturday night, especially his defense. The Ducks’ pass defense held the Utah passing attack to just 136 yards passing from Bryson Barnes, and he also threw two interceptions. The Oregon run defense also held the Utes running game to 99 yards on 36 carries, just allowing them to get 2.8 yards per rush.

Oregon had a dominant showing in a place that’s never easy to win at. The Ducks snapped Utah’s 18-game home winning streak in Rice-Eccles Stadium.
