Dan Lanning says Oregon quarterback Bo Nix will need further evaluation
Oregon head coach Dan Lanning updated the status of quarterback Bo Nix, who left the game after suffering an apparent leg injury in the Ducks’ 37-34 loss to Washington Saturday night.
“We’re always going to think about our players’ health first,” Lanning said postgame. “At that moment we felt like he wasn’t able to go and wanted to get him evaluated to see where things were actually at with him. He came back and said ‘coach, I feel like I can go,’ I asked if he was sure, the medical staff said he was good, so we went back with him.”
Nix finished the game 19-of-28 for 280 yards and two touchdowns to go with eight carries for 55 yards and a touchdown for No. 6 Oregon in the losing effort to the No. 25 Huskies.

He would be injured after a short scramble and miss a critical fourth quarter drive while he was being evaluated in the sideline medical tent. Nix would return for the game’s final possession, but Oregon didn’t have enough time to find the end zone for the go-ahead score. Lanning explained his decision making when allowing Nix to return for the game’s final drive.

“We’ll have to get him evaluated and see where things are actually really at with him,” Lanning said. “When he came back he said ‘Hey coach, I feel like I can go’. I said ‘are you sure?’ The medical staff said he was good, so we went back with him.”
Oregon’s College Football Playoff hopes might be over, but all the Ducks can do at this point is play the opponents in front of them. With the Pac-12 Championship still a real possibility, a Rose Bowl berth is what Oregon’s focus needs to be heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
