Dan Lanning shares impressions of Oregon State QB Ben Gulbranson
In his first season as the Oregon head coach, Dan Lanning has a chance to lead the Ducks to the PAC-12 Championship Game. To do that, Oregon will either need Washington to lose or to beat Oregon State. It would be best to beat Oregon State and control your own destiny. However, the Beavers are a very tough opponent.
Part of what makes Oregon State tough is its quarterback, Ben Gulbranson. While speaking to the media, Dan Lanning praised Gulbranson.
“You see a lot of visible checks where he’s able to get them in the right play,” Dan Lanning said. “You know, checking runs away from rotation, doing a lot of different things from a systematic standpoint to put them into good plays.”

“Obviously, he’s understanding their system and it’s a tough system. They do a lot of different stuff. So, being able to operate that the way he operates is impressive.”
Ben Gulbranson is a redshirt freshman quarterback. However, it’s actually his third season with the Oregon State program. 2020 didn’t count toward eligibility due to the pandemic and he took a redshirt season in 2021. He was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2020.

Dan Lanning on the plan for Bo Nix
Late in the game against Washington, Bo Nix was injured. He tried to play through the injury but clearly wasn’t himself. He then played while banged up against Utah. Now, Dan Lanning explained the plan for Nix going forward.
“I think it’s evaluated every single day. We’ll see. We have a great medical staff, they do a good job. Bo understands. He’s been playing the game for a long time, he understands the way his body feels,” Dan Lanning said.
“Obviously he was able to go out there on Saturday, but we’ll keep evaluating as we get closer to each game.”
