Purdue transfer DB Dillon Thieneman has committed to Oregon, he announced via social media. He is one of the top players to enter the transfer portal through the first week of the window.

Thieneman announced his intentions to enter the portal shortly after Purdue underwent a coaching change, parting ways with Ryan Walters. After he hit the open market, he came in as the No. 5 overall player and No. 1-ranked safety in the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.

Thieneman played high school football at Westfield (IN), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 956 overall player from the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Thieneman was one of the centerpieces of the Boilermakers defense in 2024, leading the team with 104 tackles, including five tackles for loss and a sack. He also recorded seven passes defended in the secondary.

That came after an impressive freshman season in West Lafayette. Thieneman had 106 tackles and two tackles for loss while also leading Purdue with six interceptions. That helped him earn Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors and a Third Team All-American selection. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Dillon Thieneman is the first transfer commitment for Oregon, which is coming off a huge first season in the Big Ten. The Ducks won the Big Ten championship to seal the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff and head into the CFP as the last remaining undefeated team in FBS at 13-0.

It’s also been an impressive year on the recruiting trail. Oregon came out of National Signing Day with the No. 2-ranked class in the country, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking, headlined by four five-star recruits. The crown jewels of the group are Five Star Plus+ recruits Dakorien Moore and Na’eem Offord – the No. 4 and No. 12-ranked players, respectively, in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
