One of the top prospects in the nation was in Eugene over the weekend.

Many top-notch programs are vying for a commitment from Olney (Md.) Good Counsel four-star safety Faheem DelaneOregon included. The Ducks got the 6-foot-1.5, 200-pounder out to campus for a big Junior Day trip and are looking to catapult toward the front of his recruitment.

Oregon did not make Delane’s top five schools at the end of 2023, but the Ducks were able to bring him across the country and attempt to make an in-person impression. Dan Lanning and Co. are currently riding positive momentum on the recruiting trail and are hopeful that will continue into the 2025 cycle with high-end prospects like Delane.

AlabamaLSUOhio StateTennessee and Virginia Tech each made Delane’s top five on Dec. 13. “These are definitely schools that offer me the opportunity to play early and definitely will give me the opportunity to develop,” he told On3.

The blue-chip defensive back is the No. 26 overall prospect and No. 2 safety in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Maryland.

He has an On3 NIL Valuation of $103K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Oregon off to hot start in 2025 cycle

In the 2025 class, Oregon already boasts commitments from four recruits — three of whom are top-100 in the On3 Industry Ranking. That equals the No. 5 class in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings.

All four prospects are on the offensive side of the ball, headlined by Tampa Bay Tech four-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson, the No. 44 recruit and No. 6 WR in the nation. Wilson has been committed to the Ducks since Jan. 17, 2023.

“The reason I committed to Oregon so early in the process was because I felt like family in the few minutes we had to talk. And I felt like I can relate and be in a position where my family has never been,” Wilson told Scoop Duck following his commitment.

Flanking Wilson is someone of the same namesake and position — Pflugerville (Texas) Weiss four-star WR Adrian Wilson. The Lone Star prospect checks in at No. 69 overall and is also a top-10 player at his position. The pair of Wilsons are joined by San Diego Lincoln four-star quarterback Akili Smith Jr, the No. 8 signal-caller in the cycle.
