The 2025 season is over for Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart before it ever got started. Stewart is believed to have torn his patellar tendon this week, sources told On3’s Pete Nakos on Friday. A brutal blow for Oregon, losing one of the top receivers in all of college football.

Over 24 hours later, Stewart sent out a tweet on the matter. He asked people not to “put a timeline on me” while thanking everyone for their prayers. Good to hear from Stewart himself on the situation as the road to recovery begins for him.

“Thank you for all the well wishes, I’m on the road to recovery,” Stewart said via X. “Don’t put a timeline on me. Following Gods Plan! Thank you for the prayers! 7 be back soon.”

Stewart was preparing for his second season in the Pacific Northwest, transferring in from Texas A&M. He was third on last year’s team with 613 receiving yards and five touchdowns. But with the two guys ahead of him, Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden, both in the NFL, Stewart was expected to be Oregon’s top wide receiver this upcoming season.

A big payday was going to be ahead of Stewart this time next year as well. Plenty of NFL Draft analysts were placing him high on way-too-early mock drafts. One from The Ringer’s Todd McShay had him going 14th overall to the Dallas Cowboys.

Hopefully, Stewart is able to get back to full strength over the coming year. The 2026 season opener, currently scheduled to be Sept. 5, 2026, against Boise State, will be one to circle.

Stewart also came in as one of On3’s Top 100 players in college football for the 2025 season. At No. 73, he was one of five Oregon players ranked in the Top 100 by Clark Brooks.

Stewart spent two years at Texas A&M before committing to Oregon ahead of the 2024 campaign. His most productive season came as a freshman in 2022 when he had 649 yards and two touchdowns, but he followed that up with 514 yards and four touchdowns in eight games as a sophomore.

A former Five Star Plus+ recruit, Stewart played high school football at Frisco (TX) Liberty. He was the No. 8 overall player from the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
