4-star quarterback Tanner Bailey decommits from Oregon
Gordo (Ala.) four-star quarterback Tanner Bailey has decommitted from Oregon, he announced Monday morning. Bailey is the first prospect to officially do so since news broke earlier Monday that Ducks head coach Mario Cristobal will be the new coach at Miami.
Bailey is the No. 339 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 20 quarterback and the No. 16 prospect in Alabama.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me the opportunity to play this great game of football,” Bailey wrote on Twitter. “I also like to thank Coach Cristobal, Coach Moorhead, Coach Costa, Coach Woodiel and the rest of the Oregon staff for believing in me and offering me a chance to play at such a great university. At this time, I would like to announce my decommitment from the University of Oregon. Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far.”
Tanner Bailey was one of 15 blue-chip commits for Oregon
The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Bailey committed to the Ducks in March over offers from South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Florida State and others. As a senior this season, he threw for better than 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns for Gordo.

With less than 10 days until the Early Signing Period, Oregon will look to hold onto its current class, despite not having a head coach or offensive coordinator.
After Bailey’s decommitment, the Ducks have 18 prospects committed for the 2022 cycle, including one five-star (Kelvin Banks Jr.) and 14 four-stars, all of which are ranked in the top-500 nationally. Oregon’s class ranks No. 10 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
A number of Oregon commits reacted to the news of Cristobal’s departure. And sources tell On3’s Gerry Hamilton that at least two more prospects are expected to decommit soon.
