Oregon pitcher Grayson Grinsell left the Eugene Super Regional matchup vs. Oral Roberts on Sunday evening early in the seventh inning. Grinsell injured his arm on a wild pitch and immediately went down to the ground after he threw it. The Ducks’ pitcher was in tears on the mound, before their trainer came out to the mound to pull him from the game. It was pretty clear that something was seriously wrong with his arm. Grinsell only threw nine pitches on Sunday evening before having to exit the game. This year, he’s pitched in 48.1 innings, while firing 67 strikeouts and posting a 4.26 ERA. His record currently sits at 2-1-1 for the 2023 campaign.

The most strikeouts Grinsell threw during his freshman season came against Xavier on June 4th in the Nashville Regional.

Oregon closer Matt Dallas came in to replace him for the Ducks. Dallas took a line drive to the head, but somehow managed to stay in the game. Oregon would try to roll out several different pitchers on Sunday evening, but it didn’t matter.

Oregon slugger Cabin Ceballos still set the new program single season record for home runs. With the loss, Oregon wrapped up their season with a 41-22 overall record. The Ducks were attempting to become the first team in school history to make it to Omaha since 1954.

The Golden Eagles defeated the Oregon Ducks 11-6 in Game 3 of their Eugene Super Regional to punch their tickets to the 2023 College World Series. It marks the first time Oral Roberts has made an appearance in the CWS since 1978 and just the second time in program history. With their win on Sunday evening, they also tied the school record for the most wins as a Division I program (51 wins).

As a No. 4 seed, Oral Roberts became just the third No. 4 seed to reach the College World Series since 1999. The Golden Eagles joined Fresno State (2008) and Stony Brook (2012) as the only teams to accomplish the feat.

Grayson Grinsell was one of the more highly touted recruits in the nation as a baseball prospect

Coming out of high school, he was ranked as the No. 33 overall player in the nation, according to Prep Baseball Report. He also earned All-American honors from Perfect Game.

His senior year of high school, Grinsell threw 69 strikeouts with a 1.02 ERA in 34.1 innings of work.
