Jackson Shelstad, 2023 four-star, commits to Oregon
Jackson Shelstad, a 6-foot-1 point guard out of West Linn (Ore.) West Linn has committed to Oregon basketball for the class of 2023, he tells On3.
Shelstad is the Ducks’ first commitment of the 2023 class, ultimately choosing Oregon over Gonzaga and UCLA. He also received offers from the likes of Kansas, USC, Florida, Texas Tech, amongst others.
Oregon is starting off the 2023 class early and strong with the commitment of Shelstad. In the class of 2022, the Ducks landed two highly-touted prospects in Dior Johnson and Kel’el Ware.
Sheldstad on his commitment
“I chose Oregon because of the relationship I’ve built with Coach (Dana) Altman and the coaching staff over the last couple of years,” Shelstad said. “I know how much they believe in me and how hard they will push me, which is something that I really love about them. I’ve been watching Oregon since I was a little kid and now that I have the opportunity to play for the Ducks… it’s a dream come true.”

Ties to Oregon
Jackson Shelstad grew up in the state of Oregon and the Ducks’ campus is only about an hour and a half away from his home. He’s also close to Celtics guard and former Oregon standout Payton Pritchard. Shelstad says he is like “family to me, he’s like my older brother. He’s one of our closest family friends…It’s really nice to have him in my corner and I’m really thankful for it…My parents are best friends with his parents…His dad was my trainer growing up. We are really close.
Pritchard also attended West Linn High School where he won four consecutive state titles before graduating in 2016.
