Joel Klatt won't be shocked if Oregon wins the national championship
Oregon put on yet another show this weekend in their 63-19 blowout of California. Now, with only a few weeks left in the regular season, Joel Klatt won’t be surprised by any height that the Ducks could eventually soar to.
Klatt spoke highly of everything about Oregon during his show on Monday. To him, the Ducks have all the pieces to accomplish whatever they want to by the end of the season.
“It’s pretty clear to me that this team has what it takes, I think is the way that I would put it,” said Klatt. “They have what it takes from a players perspective, a quarterback perspective, and a coaching perspective.”
“Dominant at the line of scrimmage, they have athletes everywhere else. They have confident play callers, they have really good and sound schemes – particularly on the defensive side. And they have the most experienced quarterback in the history of the sport,” Klatt noted. “They’re not going anywhere. They’re good, they’re deep, they’re physical.”
His admiration for them also stems from his continued respect and appreciation for Dan Lanning. Klatt has expressed how very impressed he has been by Lanning before. He continues to see a young coach in Eugene who’s thriving in his position and is doing so in such a way that is having an effect on his players as well.

“I’m a big fan of Dan Lanning,” said Klatt. “I love his approach. He’s a really confident guy, which I really like and that bleeds over to his players. His players play with an enthusiasm, an urgency. It’s all just really fun to be around, to be quite honest with you.”
At 8-1 overall and 5-1 in the Pac-12 with their only loss coming to Washington, Oregon has as good of a resume as any team in the nation. That’s why, over the final weeks of the season, Klatt could more than see the Ducks competing for or winning titles both in their conference and come the College Football Playoff.
“That is a team that I think is absolutely forreal,” Klatt said. “Oregon? It won’t shock me at all if Oregon wins the Pac-12. It won’t shock me at all if Oregon wins the national championship. I don’t think that that’s crazy to state that.”
“Oregon, for me, is a team that is clearly one of the four or five best teams in the country,” said Klatt.
