On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Oregon takes lead for DL Johnny Bowens
Converse (Texas) Judson four-star defensive lineman Johnny Bowens is set to make his commitment decision approximately 48 hours on Thanksgiving Day.
The 6-foot-2, 254-pounder is down to three schools, Texas, Oregon and Texas A&M, and was previously committed to the Aggies until a decommitment this summer.
Now, it’s the Ducks who are trending to land him in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). Following picks from On3 national recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman, InsideTexas.com recruiting insider Gerry Hamilton, and ScoopDuck.com’s Justin Hopkins, the Ducks hold a 57.1 percent chance of securing his commitment.

Bowens is the No. 272 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranks as the nation’s No. 36 defensive lineman and the No. 50 senior recruit in the state of Texas.
Oregon currently holds the nation’s No. 11 recruiting class and No. 1 class in the Pac-12, per the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. The Ducks already have four commitments from defensive linemen, as well as two EDGE prospects, and with Bowens would sew up one of the nation’s best classes along the front seven.
