Kwame Evans Jr. injury update: Dana Altman shares latest on Oregon forward
The Oregon Ducks and head coach Dana Altman got a scare on Sunday when forward Kwame Evans Jr. needed to leave the win over Stephen F. Austin with a knee injury.
Despite the scare, following the game, Altman shared that it looks like Evans is going to be alright moving forward for the Ducks.
“I think he’s okay,” Dana Altman said. “I talked to Clay, and I talked to [Evans]. He just banged it really hard, but I think structurally and everything, it’s going to be okay. Just think it’s going to be really sore.”
Kwame Evans Jr. left the game midway through the second half by going for a pass in transition. He jumped for a pass but fell to the ground and wasn’t able to put any weight on his leg when he left the court. He also would not return to the bench. In 11 minutes of playing time leading up to the injury, he had eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
At the time, Oregon was leading 57-38 in a game where the Ducks went on to win 79-61. It also left the Ducks with just four big men available to play in the game. With that, the concern for Altman and Oregon long term was going to be depth at that spot if Evans wasn’t available for an extended period of time.
