Matt Dallas and the Oregon Ducks are feeling the sting of loss at the moment, but that isn’t dampening their view for the program’s future.

The Ducks let their chance at the College World Series slip away, as they lost two straight to the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles after winning Game 1. However, Dallas decided to look at the bright side, offering praise for his fellow pitchers at Oregon for the way they’ve battled all season long.

“Adversity is really the key word,” stated Dallas. “I mean, from the first day of fall camp, it seemed like we were hit with something — and then we were hit with something else. And it was just kind of a next-guy-up mentality. Whoever’s available, whoever’s ready, just have heart on the mound and execute pitches. That’s really all it’s about.

“It’s been great to see some younger dudes step up in a role that maybe at the beginning of the year, they didn’t think they would have. … Next year (for) Oregon when we’re back in Omaha … those guys are gonna have a huge, huge hand in that. And a big part of it is the experience and the adversity that they faced this year.”

It’s unfortunate that Oregon will be forced to watch the College World Series from home, but it’s evident Matt Dallas believes the Ducks can make it to Omaha as soon as next season. Doubt the Ducks at your own risk.

While it’s no surprise the Wake Forest Demon Deacons lead the way, some of the list may grab your attention. Here’s the updated 2023 College World Series odds, via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Updated 2023 College World Series odds, via DraftKings Sportsbook:

While many teams have punched their tickets to Omaha, there’s still two spots remaining unfilled. Either the Southern Miss Golden Eagles or Tennessee Volunteers, and the Texas Longhorns or Stanford Cardinal will join the contingent already headed to Nebraska.

The Volunteers will look to continue their season against Southern Miss on Monday at 6:00 p.m. ET, while the Longhorns and Cardinal will do battle at 8:00 p.m. ET. It should be a fascinating night of baseball, complete with high-energy showdowns for the ages.

Nevertheless, it seems as if the College World Series is wide open this season, and some wonderful games should be taking place at Omaha in 2023.
