4-star QB Michael Van Buren sets visit to Oregon
Bowie (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren will be in attendance next weekend for Oregon’s spring game. He announced the news on Twitter.
Van Buren is the No. 181 overall prospect and No. 12 quarterback in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 5 player in Maryland.
The 5-foot-11.5, 185-pounder announced his top three of Maryland, Oregon and Penn State on April 21. The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine currently has Penn State as the heavy favorite to land a commitment from Van Buren at 94.6%.
The trip to Eugene will be the fourth for Van Buren and second of the month for him. He was last on campus April 15.
“What stands out about Oregon for me is my relationship with the coaching staff and the great people they have in the building,” Van Buren said on why he included Oregon his top 3. “Everyone there always has high energy, shows a lot of love and really care about each other in the building. With Coach (Dan) Lanning, a big thing with him is family and that’s why he chose to go to Oregon.
“I also built a relationship with Coach (Will) Stein when he got there and my mother finally got the chance to go up there and meet him in person. She really enjoyed that. Oregon also preaches that they’re one step from winning a national championship. They’ve been there and they feel like they can back and win it with me leading them there.”
Michael Van Buren currently has an On3 NIL Valuation of $150K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

How Oregon’s 2024 class stands
Currently the Ducks have 11 commitments and their 2024 class stands as the No. 11 class in the country and the No. 1 class in the Pac-12.
Of their eight commitments, seven are ranked as four-star prospects and three are ranked as top-200 prospects.
Newport Beach (Calif.) Newport Harbor Jordan Anderson headlines the Ducks’ class so far as the No. 97 player in the country. He committed to the Ducks last December.
April’s been a good month on the trail for the Ducks as they landed commitments from four-star safety Aaron Flowers, three-star defensive lineman Tionne Gray and three-star offensive tackle Trent Ferguson.
