Nevada offensive lineman Isaiah World.

Former Nevada offensive tackle Isaiah World has committed to Oregon, he tells On3’s Hayes Fawcett.

World was a coveted player in the NCAA transfer portal this cycle, and the Ducks ultimately beat out Texas A&M and Nebraska for his services. The 6-foot-8, 320-pounder has been a top portaler at his position since he decided to transfer away from Nevada earlier this month.

A product of the 2021 recruiting class, World was a three-star recruit per the On3 Industry rankings, which is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services. He was the No. 143 offensive tackle in his cycle and the No. 1,578 player overall.

Based on his success at Nevada, he has become more sought after than his orginal ranking indicates, and is expected to make an instant splash along the Ducks’ offensive line.

As World prepares to settle into Eugene, the Ducks are set to take on the winner of the first-round matchup between the Tennessee Volunteers and Ohio State Buckeyes on New Year’s Day. Oregon earned the first-round bye after finishing undefeated during the regular season and defeating a top-three Penn State team 45-37 in the Big Ten Championship game.

The portal officially opens on Monday, Dec. 9, 2024. More than 2,800 FBS scholarship players entered their names into the NCAA’s transfer database during the 2023-24 school year. Removing those who withdrew or went pro, the final total sat at 2,707 transfers.

That means roughly 25 percent of all FBS scholarship players hit free agency in one year, per On3’s Pete Nakos.
