Oregon defensive back Tyler Turner enters Transfer Portal
Oregon Ducks defensive back Tyler Turner has entered the Transfer Portal, On3 has learned.
In his two seasons with the Ducks, Tyler Turner utilized his redshirt as a true freshman in 2023. He would then go on to be used relatively sparingly during the 2024 season and he had seven total tackles and a pass defended in 2024.
Tyler Turner played his high school football at William J. Brennan in San Antonio, Texas and was a four-star recruit in the Class of 2023, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 32nd-ranked safety and the 367th-ranked player overall in that recruiting cycle.
As a senior in high school, he was selected as the District 29-6A unanimous defensive MVP and first-team all-district choice. Coming out of high school, he was recruited by numerous schools at the Power Four level and will likely have options in the Transfer Portal.
Thanks to the redshirt that Tyler Turner took in 2023, he will have three seasons of eligibility remaining for the next team that he ends up playing for. Certainly, it appears that he’s going to have plenty of options.

This season, for Oregon’s part, has been phenomenal for the Ducks. In their first season in the Big Ten, Oregon was unbeaten during the regular season and then went onto the Big Ten Championship Game. There, they were able to win a high-scoring affair against Penn State. In turn, that led to the Ducks getting the first overall seed and a first round bye in the College Football Playoff.
The Transfer Portal opened on Monday, December 9th. This is one of two Transfer Portal windows that will be open before the 2025 season. In those windows, players have the opportunity to step away from their current teams and look for newer opportunities. Teams, meanwhile, can look to fill holes on their rosters and look to add depth.
