Oregon defensive lineman Tevita Pome’e entered the NCAA transfer portal on Friday. He has since explained his intention in a post via X.

“I am incredibly grateful to God for everything that he has done for me so far. I want to express my heartfelt appreciation to the coaches here at Oregon for giving me the opportunity to play football,” Pome’e wrote. “Through this experience, I have grown both on and off the field, and for that, I am truly thankful. To my teammates, I pray for nothing but the best for you all.

“The sky is the limit, and I will cherish every moment we have spent together. After much prayer and discussion with my family, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with four years of eligibility.”

Pome’e played high school football at Layton Christian Academy (UT), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 662 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.
