Alongside an impressive season in Eugene, Dan Lanning and his staff are building an equally impressive recruiting class in the 2024 cycle. Oregon currently holds commitments from 24 prospects in the 2024 class. Eleven of those pledges play offense and 13 come from the defense.

That group of commits rates as the No. 6 overall class in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 2 in the new Big Ten Conference.

Oregon Class Breakdown

Oregon’s class consists of zero five-stars, 17 four-stars and seven three-star prospects. Top-100 recruits Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic four-star EDGE Elijah Rushing, Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star defensive lineman Aydin Breland, Forney (Texas) four-star safety Aaron Flowers and Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Dakoda Fields headline the Ducks’ class.

Additional top-200 pledges include Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances Academy four-star cornerback Ify Obidegwu, Yelm (Wash.) four-star linebacker Brayden Platt, San Jacinto (Calif.) four-star wide receiver Dillon Gresham, Long Beach (Calif.) Poly four-star linebacker Dylan Williams and Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville four-star offensive tackle Jac’Qawn McRoy.

Four-star and five-star prospects are rated as ‘blue-chip’ prospects — Oregon’s class sits No. 4 nationally in blue-chip percentage at 70.83%. The average distance of an Oregon recruit’s hometown to Eugene is 919.9 miles and 13% of the class hails from the state of Oregon.

Top Oregon Commit: EDGE Elijah Rushing

Tucson (Ariz.) Salpointe Catholic four-star EDGE Elijah Rushing is the nation’s No. 35 prospect and No. 6 edge rusher. He committed to the Ducks at the end of October and headlines Oregon’s top-10 class. On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power writes this about Rushing as a prospect:

“Tall, angular pass rusher with the ability to get after the passer due to his quickness and length. Measured between 6-foot-5 and 6-foot-6 and around 230 pounds as a junior. Has solid length for the position. Productive pass rusher who feasts on mismatched offensive linemen. Primarily lines up wide both in a three-point stance and as a stand-up rusher. Plays with good quickness. Shows an effective long arm getting his hands inside the body of opposing offensive linemen. Plays with a good effort level and chases the ball as a pursuit defender. Productive as a junior, notching 11.5 sacks. A solid, not spectacular athlete at the position. Can play high and stand to add functional strength. Was neutralized when facing Power 5 offensive line prospects as a junior.”

Top Offensive Commit: WR Dillon Gresham

San Jacinto (Calif.) four-star wide receiver Dillon Gresham is atop Oregon’s group of offensive commits, ranking No. 157 nationally and No. 26 among wide receivers. He committed to the Ducks back in May over Washington and Arizona.

“The hospitality I have been shown by Oregon since the beginning of my recruitment process was next level,” Gresham told On3. “It’s a real down-to-earth staff that made me feel like family. Oregon offers a lot especially having someone like Phil Knight, who is also offering a lot of opportunities, it just was something that couldn’t be turned down.”

Gresham also told On3 that he wants to be a part of the Ducks’ chase for a national championship.

“Everybody knows Oregon,” Gresham told On3. “It’s the place to be. I’ve seen what Oregon is trying to build. The players they’re bringing in, it can’t be a fluke. It seems like they’re ready to go after a national championship. I want to be a part of it.”
