Oregon Ducks mascot mocks Deion Sanders, Colorado before losing head, running away
College football is at its best when mascots are getting involved in the action and the Oregon Ducks mascot wasted little time becoming part of the show with Deion Sanders and Colorado in town.
As he was coming out to the field, the team’s mascot was sporting a white cowboy hat and sunglasses, mimicking Sanders’ classic look since he took over in Boulder, Colo.
He approached a white square cardboard box with a clock painted on the front and “Prime” painted on the side, carrying what appeared to be a stick or a baseball bat. When he got to the Primetime clock, he let loose and started bashing it like a pinata.
In the middle of the commotion, the duck’s head popped off, cowboy hat, sunglasses and all.
And rather than attempt to quickly put the headgear back on, the mascot instead sprinted back up the tunnel as another staffer witnessed what was happening and grabbed the headgear to join him.
Check it out below.
Mascots at the college level are often known to be incredibly stealthy about their identity, often not revealing they are one of the mascots until after graduation. That would explain the hilarious and awkward looking sprint back up the tunnel.

As for the rest, clearly the Oregon Ducks are clearly out to end Primetime this week.
Colorado has gotten off to a 3-0 start and done so in the same type of fashion Sanders carried out his playing career: with a whole lot of flash and sizzle. The Buffaloes began the year with an upset of defending national runner-up TCU, then continued it with wins over Nebraska and Colorado State.
The Colorado State win came in overtime and might have highlighted some of the potential issues for the Buffaloes to come.
While Sanders has done a remarkable job flipping the roster and turning it into a competitive team, depth will be challenged as the team enters the heart of its Pac-12 slate, starting with the Oregon game.
Colorado will also take on USC next week, another massive test.
At the time of this writing, the Oregon Ducks led 7-0 with 3:10 remaining in the first quarter.
