Oregon’s new football facility
“BREAKING: Oregon football has filed a permit application to construct a new, 130,000-square foot indoor football practice facility within the Ducks’ Autzen Stadium Complex site,” reported Sportico on Tuesday.
The practice fields themselves will be the reported 130,000-square foot site mentioned in Sportico’s report, however the total facility will have a 40,000-square foot connection to the current home of football operations, the Hatfield Dowlin Complex.
The University of Oregon released the plans via their official website for their new indoor practice facility to be built just west of the Autzen Stadium Complex.
Current plans call for the facility to be among the region’s most energy efficient, with a goal of powering the building with renewable energy generated on site.

The 40,000-square foot connector area features an expanded weight room and players’ lounge to provide dedicated spaces for student-athletes to prepare for games. The space will also be large enough to host any team or school events that they wish to hold.
“Our world-class labs, classrooms, residence halls and athletic facilities fuel an undeniable passion and inspire excellence in students, faculty, staff and alumni,” said Michael H. Schill, Oregon president and professor of law. “This new facility will ensure that our student-athletes can continue to push themselves without limits and compete on a global scale.”
“The core of our mission here at Oregon is to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience and the best possible opportunity to maximize their potential,” athletic director Rob Mullens stated. “This new facility enhances support for UO student-athletes by combining innovation and functionality in the best possible way while also increasing access to indoor training opportunities for all of our Duck student-athletes.”
