Since being hired as Oregon‘s head football coach, Dan Lanning has been full of energy and excitement to be leading the Ducks’ program. While he guided the team through winter conditioning, Lanning then spent the past month-and-a-half leading his new team through their spring practice period – which was capped off Saturday with Oregon’s annual Yellow vs. Green spring game at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.

As many fans showed up to see the Ducks in action for the first time under Lanning’s control, they had to have been impressed with what they witnessed. As the team played a competitive scrimmage, the Yellow team – which was quarterbacked by Auburn transfer Bo Nix – came out on top with a 31-21 win.

With the spring practice period officially in the books for Oregon, Lanning met with the media on Saturday and broke down what his next 100 days will look like as the Ducks head into the summer.

“There’s a lot of pieces, a lot of moving parts,” Lanning said. “We’ll have a recap, basically to where we’ll follow up this spring. Exit interviews, opportunities to enhance and grow. I think our coaches will have a chance to sit down with me and be evaluated. Then, we’re entering an opportunity to get on the road and do evaluations from a recruiting standpoint over the next month-and-a-half – where we get to go out and see prospects that could potentially be Oregon Ducks. That’ll be a big part of it.

“Then, we’ll head right into summer camp. This will be a big phase for us in the strength and conditioning phase where we’ll put on some weight and some mass, build some bulk and strength. And then, obviously, a big recovery opportunity as we work our way into the summer.”

Oregon is scheduled to kickoff its 2022 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 against Georgia – Lanning’s former employer – in Atlanta.
