Oregon, Hawaii agree to cancel remaining two games in non-conference series
In January, Oregon and Hawaii decided to cancel their 2024 matchup on the gridiron, cancelling the first game of their three-game series. But on Thursday night, Oregon agreed to pay Hawaii $1,000,000 after both sides agreed to cancel the 2031 game in Eugene and the 2032 game in Honolulu, according to James Crepea of The Oregonian. Both sides signed a termination of game contract this summer, according to the report. And the payment was made before the end of June, according to the document provided to The Oregonian.
Oregon returns plenty of talent this fall and they’re expected to be one of the top contenders for the national crown. Few teams across the country possess the elite skill players that the Ducks do: quarterback Dillon Gabriel will likely shatter a number of college football records before the end of the year. Running back Jordan James had 759 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground last year.
And Oregon returns one of the nation’s most dynamic wide receiver units. Tez Johnson hauled in over 1,000 receiving yards last year and 10 touchdowns. He’ll be joined by Evan Stewart from Texas A&M. He’s hauled in over 500 receiving yards the past two seasons. Oregon is hoping he has a breakout season in the 2024 campaign, fulfilling his lofty five-star+ status we saw from him coming out of high school. They’re joined by yet another former five-star talent, wide receiver Jurrion Dickey. He flashed his talent in the spring, showcasing why he was ranked as the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
That’s just a brief look at a few of the weapons on a loaded Ducks roster heading into this season. There’s a reason they’re currently listed as the third-best odds to win the national championship this year. The Ducks’ odds to win it all are currently tabbed at 6.5 to 1, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
Dan Lanning and company continue to dominate on the recruiting trail to ensure that their program will stay among the very best in the sport.

Dan Lanning continues to stockpile elite talent at Oregon
Let’s take a look at a few of the elite prospects they’ve already reeled in for this cycle.
The Ducks have already done some serious damage in the 2025 recruiting cycle, hauling in the likes of Duncanville’s (Duncanville, Texas) Dakorien Moore, tabbed as the No. 4 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 1 wide receiver in America for his class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He also earned a lofty five-star+ ranking from the On3 recruiting team. Moore played a critical role in guiding Duncanville to the 6A Division I state championship game in 2022, no easy feat in the state of Texas.
Lanning and company have also reeled in another electrifying wide receiver in the 2025 cycle, Dallas Wilson, a five-star talent out of Tampa Bay Tech (Tampa Bay, Florida). Wilson jumps off the tape and is a threat to take the rock the distance nearly every time he gets his hands on the football. In 2023, he hauled in 49 catches for 872 yards and nine touchdowns. The 6-2, 193 pounder is currently rated as the No. 27 overall prospect in the country and the No. 5 wide receiver in America, according to the On3 Industry Rankings.
Oregon will open up their 2024 campaign against the Idaho Vandals. That one is slated for Saturday, August 31st.
