Mark Wasikowski says it's 'special' to host Super Regional
For the first time since 2012, Oregon will be hosting a Super Regional weekend of the NCAA Tournament, as the Ducks will face Oral Roberts this weekend in a best of three matchup for a trip to the College Baseball World Series.
Leading up to the big weekend, Oregon head coach Mark Wasikowski was asked what it means to be host and be a part of this historic weekend at PK Park.
“It’s special,” Wasikowski said. “I know they’ve got a lot of things planned, they’ve got a big fan fest out there in the parking lot similar to a football tailgate. They’ve got things where they’re going to be giving out season tickets for next year 25 percent off and they’ve already sold the thing out, and I think they sold it out in less than an hour or so.”
The festivities are lined up this weekend for Oregon fans and supporters, as all of the games between Oregon and Oral Roberts this weekend are sold out. The Ducks will be hosting PK Park FanFest before Friday and Saturday’s games between Autzen Stadium and Pape Field starting three hours before each game.

Festivities will include food trucks, a beer garden, tents and televisions to watch games, a live DJ, shaved ice, photo opportunities, Kids Zone inflatables, and appearances by The Duck and the Oregon Cheerleaders according to Oregon Athletics. Fans without tickets will also be able to watch the games this weekend on the Autzen Stadium video board, as the support of the Ducks baseball team seems to be at an all time high.
“So the fan interest in the community, what that means for us is that it’s awesome to see that the local community really wants this and is really rallying around the team at a time where it’s a pretty special time,” Wasikowski said. “So what it means is that the program’s going in the right direction and we’ve been able to advance out of that regional round in the Super Regional round and we’re looking to take one more step now.”
The Ducks defeated the No. 3 overall seed Vanderbilt Commodores and Xavier twice to complete the sweep to send then to Super Regionals, and will face Oral Roberts in Game 1 of their series on Friday at 8:00 p.m. ET in a game airing on ESPU and ESPN+.
