Oregon offers 2024 On3 top-65 WR Gekyle Baker

Brownsboro (Texas) four-star wide receiver Gekyle Baker received an offer from Oregon on Friday. He announced the news over social media.

Baker is the No. 380 overall prospect and No. 56 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also a three-star recruit and the No. 67 player in Texas.

On3 rates Baker higher than other recruiting services, according to the Industry Comparison. Per the 2024 On300, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 62 overall prospect, No. 11 wide receiver and No. 14 player in Texas.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound wideout holds nine offers. According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, Texas has a commanding lead for his commitment at 72.7%.

RPM was released to the public in December. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college. 

It factors in machine learning, social sentiment, visits and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.

The Ducks’ 2024 recruiting class currently contains four players. They are Long Beach (Calif.) Millikan four-star wide receiver Jordan Anderson, Philadelphia (Penn.) Roman Catholic four-star wide receiver Tyseer Denmark, Medford (Ore.) North Medford four-star tight end A.J. Pugliano and Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen On3 four-star offensive tackle Fox Crader.

Baker has an On3 NIL Valuation of $5.8K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Baker received high praise from On3

Baker is rated much higher by On3 than the rest of the recruiting industry. On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings expressed praise regarding his play.

“Gekyle Baker debuted at No. 63 overall in the midseason update of the 2024 On300,” Power wrote on Oct. 17. “The Brownsboro (Texas) High product has an outstanding athletic profile along with strong production. Baker is a long-striding, rangy receiver with the ability to win deep. He went for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns. Baker is a three-sport standout at Brownsboro, starring on the basketball court in addition to posting a 6-4 foot high jump and 21.80 second mark in the 200 meters.”
