Oregon rises in On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings
Less than an hour after losing out on Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll five-star athlete Nyckoles Harbor, Oregon got a big win during National Signing Day. That is because Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star cornerback Rodrick Pleasant announced his commitment to the Ducks.
Pleasant’s pledge elevated Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class to No. 8 in the 2023 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings. The Ducks, whose group ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12, climbed one spot from No. 9.
Pleasant is the No. 98 overall prospect and No. 9 cornerback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in California.

St. John Bosco four-star defensive lineman Matayo Uiagalelei, Dripping Springs (Texas) four-star quarterback Austin Novosad and Long Beach (Calif.) Long Beach Poly four-star cornerback Daylen Austin during the Early Signing Period.

The Ducks’ class is led by Palo Alto (Calif.) Menlo-Atherton five-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, the No. 28 overall prospect in the On3 Consensus. Following Pleasant’s commitment, Oregon’s group contains 30 prospects and is composed of one five-stars, 17 four-stars and 11 three-stars.
In addition to Dickey, Pleasant and Uiagalelei among others, the Ducks have pledges from multiple blue-chip recruits ranked in the top 10 of their position groups. They include Idaho Falls (Idaho) Skyline Senior four-star tight end Kenyon Sadiq (No. 6), Picayune (Miss.) Picayune Memorial four-star running back Dante Dowdell (No. 8) and Chandler (Ariz.) Basha four-star athlete Cole Martin (No. 8).
Rodrick Pleasant On3 Scouting Summary
The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Rodrick Pleasant:
“Versatile speedster who has a claim as the fastest prospect in the 2023 cycle. Set the California state record with a historic 10.14 second mark in the 100 meters in the state finals as a junior. Also ran an outstanding 20.40 second time in the 200 meters. One of the fastest prep sprinters in the nation. Has a smaller frame at 5-foot-10 and around 170 pounds. Plays all over the field at Gardena Serra, but most likely projects as a cornerback long-term.
“Has the speed to stick in the hip pocket of wide receivers on Friday nights. Also shows excellent makeup speed when out of phase in the camp setting. A willing tackler as a run defender. A threat to score anytime the ball is in his hands as a receiver or kick returner. Lacks some length for the position with a neutral wing-span and will need to show he can make plays on the ball in contested situations.”
