Oregon set to host key defenders, coveted OT this weekend
While a lot of the national attention has been focused on the recruiting efforts of Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Clemson, Oregon has quietly assembled a class that ranks No. 12 in the country.
The Ducks’ hopes of landing a top-10 class and remaining No. 1 overall in the Pac-12 Conference recruiting rankings could hinge on how things go with an impressive crop of visitors scheduled for this weekend.
On33 EDGE headlines Oregon visit weekend
The biggest name expected in Eugene is On300 EDGE Cyrus Moss ofLas Vegas Bishop Gorman.
Moss is returning to Oregon after a summer official visit that he rated a “perfect 10.” At the time, he also talked highly about his relationship with Oregon head coach Mario Cristobal and co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Joe Salave’a.
Moss has upcoming visits to Alabama (Nov. 6) and Florida (Dec. 10) still on the schedule. Notre Dame and Arizona State also remain a factor in his recruitment. ScoopDuck points out this is the third time that Moss will be in Eugene during his recruitment.
Oregon covets OT visiting this weekend
Seattle Rainier Beach offensive tackle Josh Conerly is scheduled to be on campus for an official visit. The No. 52 player in the country is a priority target for the Ducks. Oregon is trying to gain recruiting momentum after the four-star recruit was at Michigan for an official visit early in September.
“Conerly is a big dude who has early draft pick written all over him,” ScoopDuck writes. “And he could be a bookend for future offensive lines when paired with star Kelvin Banks.”
Conerly has been quiet for much of the recruiting process, but Michigan and Oregon are high on his list, along with Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, USC and UDub.
EDGE rushers also visiting
Oregon would gladly love to pair Moss with On300 Nyjalik Kelly of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard as two of the final pieces in this class. The nation’s No. 98 player is scheduled for an unofficial visit after visiting Eugene officially earlier this summer.
Kelly is an elite pass rusher who could help fill the void once Kayvon Thibodeaux leaves for the NFL. Florida State, LSU and Miami are schools that are high on Kelly’s list.

Michigan prepared to offer No. 1 recruit $10.5M over 4 years
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Kelly was committed to the Seminoles from August 2020 to April 2021, but ultimately backed off of that pledge and reopened his recruitment.
Another On300 prospect slated to be on campus is linebacker Lander Barton of Salt Lake City Brighton. The consensus four-star prospect ranks as the No. 177 player in the On300. He’s already visited Michigan, Texas and hometown Utah. It appears the Ducks get the chance to make the last impression on an official visit before a decision is made.
Texas and Utah are the two teams trending for Barton before the visit to Oregon. He could also develop into an edge rusher on the next level, which is why Oregon is so interested in Barton.
Juco CB also on visit schedule
The last big name on the visit list is fast-rising junior cornerback Keionte Scott of Snow (Utah) College. Scott announced on Tuesday that he was tripping to Oregon this weekend.
Scott is quickly establishing himself as one of the nation’s top juco prospects. He has nearly 30 offers, after adding a scholarship earlier this week from LSU. On Sunday, Scott tweeted out a top 12 list and the Ducks were definitely one of the teams high on his list.
What makes Scott such an attractive player is that he’ll have four years to play three seasons at his next stop. Scott attended La Mesa (Calif.) Helix before heading to junior college as a non-qualifier. He will be a spring graduate from Snow College.
