Oregon State kicker Atticus Sappington commits to rival Oregon
Oregon State kicker Atticus Sappington has defected to his rival school. After leaving Oregon State via transfer portal, he announced Wednesday his decision to team up with Oregon.
He announced the decision with an Instagram post, which he captioned: “Headed out
Down Interstate 5… I keep my heart in Oregon!”
It’s hard to complain too much about the job Sappington did in Corvalis. As a freshman last season, he converted on 15/16 extra points and 5/7 field goals. In 2023, his sophomore season, those numbers only got bigger and more accurate, as Sappington knocked in 49 of 50 extra points and nailed 13/14 field goals, good for a 92.9% hit rate.
Appears that Oregon landed a very solid kicker with at least a few years of eligibility left… and all while pillaging a key player from their hated rival. That’s about as good of a recruiting win as you can get in the portal.
