Oregon trending for 4-star LB Brayden Platt
Oregon is no stranger to big recruiting wins in the Northwest. In Washington, the Ducks have added a top-five player from the Evergreen State in each of the last two classes, including Seattle Rainier Beach top-40 overall four-star offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. in the 2022 cycle.
Things are no different in Eugene for Dan Lanning and his staff in the class of 2024, as Vancouver (Wash.) Evergreen four-star offensive tackle Fox Crader pledged to the Ducks in November 2022. He may not be the only blue-chip player from his state committing to the soon-to-be Big Ten program, either.
Yelm (Wash.) four-star linebacker Brayden Platt is set to announce his commitment on Sept. 4, choosing between Oregon and Oklahoma. The Ducks are the heavy favorite, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).
Following a new pick logged by SoonerScoop recruiting insider Josh McCuistion on Monday, Oregon now has a 90.5% chance to earn Platt’s commitment, while Oklahoma is at just 2.9%. Each program received an official visit in June, but Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi has the Ducks in the driver’s seat.
“The Sooners have done an outstanding job in this pursuit but pulling him out of the Pacific Northwest feels like a tough bet to make at this point,” McCuistion wrote.
Platt is the No. 205 overall prospect in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 19 LB and No. 5 player from Washington.

“The connection with the staff, the direction of Oregon under Dan Lanning and the opportunity he sees on the field have the soon-to-be Big Ten program in the driver’s seat,” wrote On3’s Chad Simmons about Platt. “There is still communication with Oklahoma as well, but the Sooners are trailing the Ducks three weeks out.”
Oregon pushing for top-10 recruiting class
The Ducks continue to make hay on the recruiting trail as they begin to navigate their way from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten. After raking in the No. 7 class a cycle ago, Oregon’s 2024 group currently sits at No. 12 in the nation and No. 4 in the Big Ten, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.
Lanning’s pledge list currently consists of 22 commits, 13 of whom are four-stars. Headlining is Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra cornerback Dakoda Fields, who flipped from USC on Aug. 7. Flanking Fields as top-150 pieces in the secondary are Forney (Texas) safety Aaron Flowers and Baltimore St. Frances Academy safety Ify Obidegwu.
Platt would be the third four-star linebacker in the class, along with Long Beach (Calif.) Poly’s Dylan Williams and Los Angeles Los Alamitos’ Kamar Mothudi. Platt would also check in as the ninth highest-ranked overall player in the class.
