Oregon guard Peyton Scott was injured during the sceond half of the Ducks’ Round of 32 matchup against Duke in the NCAA Tournament. Scott, a sixth-year senior, had to be helped to the locker room by Ducks training staff during the tight matchup.

Scott went down with what appeared to be a non-contact injury to her leg. Scott does have a history of knee issues, as she tore he ACL during Oregon’s season opener against Northern Arizona to begin the 2023-24 season. She appeared to be unable to put weight on the same knee that her brace was one.

She was unable to return, emerging from the locker room midway through the fourth quarter on crutches and a brace wrapped around her knee. It’s a major blow for the Ducks as Scott is their second-leading scorer this season. She’s averaging 10.2 points per game, along with 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists.

Oregon was unable to overcome the Blue Devils despite leading by as many as nine points during the matchup, and Duke would overcome the Ducks 59-53. Scott finished the game with four points of 2 of 6 shooting to go with a pair of rebounds.

The Ducks finishes their season 20-12 overall, which included a 10-7 record against Big Ten Conference competition. Oregon split its two games in both the Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tournament. They defeated Washington in its conference tournament opener before falling to Indiana in the second round.

During March Madness, Oregon upset No. 7-seed Vanderbilt 77-73 in overtime in the first round. Scott scored 13 points, hauled in seven rebounds and five assists during 36 minutes on the floor in what was the first NCAA Tournament game of the sixth-year guard’s career.

Oregon men’s basketball vs. Arizona preview

Both the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament is roaring on, and on the men’s side of things the East Region will help determine its four participants in the Sweet 16 over the weekend. As part of the fun, No. 4-seed Arizona will face No. 5-seed Oregon on Sunday night at 9:40 p.m. ET.

It’s a familiar matchup, as the Wildcats and Ducks used to do battle inside the Pac-12. Now, with Arizona in the Big 12 and Oregon in the Big Ten, it takes on a new life as they’re paired up in March. Both teams look capable of winning it all, as the Wildcats defeated Akron by 28, and the Ducks defeated Liberty by 29 in the Round of 64.
