Bo Nix reveals his comfort level in Oregon's offensive system
If you’re a fan of Oregon football, you might have noticed an uptick in the way that starting quarterback Bo Nix has been playing as of late. His level of comfort playing in the Ducks’ offense has been at an all-time high in Eugene, Oregon. For him, there are several factors that play into his performance as of late and even in comparison to his days and Auburn. And if you think this high level of playmaking ability just started at Oregon, that couldn’t be any further from the truth.
According to Nix, he has been capable of this level of play since high school. That is thanks to the coaching from his dad.
“My dad did a good job when I was in high school,” said Nix. “He used to give me a formation, call a run play, and then put the check at the end of it. I’d get us into a run or a pass check. We’d move the ball on our defense all the time. And so, I give credit to him for doing that. He always taught me hat count, what run plays, leverages, and routes against certain looks.”
Every week since Oregon’s opening loss to the Georgia Bulldogs, the team has looked better and better on the field. And in their most recent game, a top-ten matchup with the previously undefeated UCLA Bruins, the Ducks had a near-perfect performance. Oregon scored 45 against UCLA behind Nix’s 22-28 completion, 283 yards, five-touchdown performance.

Nix on difference in preformence at Auburn to now
Nix knows there has been a difference in his game, from when he was at Auburn to Oregon and from Week 1 of the season to now. For the Ducks quarterback, the main difference in the two schools is coaching style. And his increase in production since week 1 is thanks to trust in his ability.
“The past few years have been more of a system of; we want to run what’s called. Some coaches are like that. They want to know where the ball is going, and I don’t blame them. Because sometimes you get a quarterback that can go crazy with it.
“So with that being said, with coach Dillinghm, it’s just meeting time and understanding. At the beginning year, I didn’t have as much leeway as I have the past two weeks. So, it’s just building and building and just becoming more and more comfortable with what we’re going to see week after week.”
