Report: Dante Moore donates $10,000 of NIL earning to his former high school in Detroit

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore reportedly donated $10,000 to his alma mater high school in Detroit, according to Joel Sebastianelli of Local 4 News in Detroit. Moore attended Martin Luther King Jr. Senior High School before committing to UCLA.
On top of his generous donation, the QB also spent Wednesday reading his book, From Journey to Dream with children at Detriot PAL. The former blue-chip high school athlete spoke with the local news outlet about giving back to his community.
“Being here is a true blessing to give back to the community,” Moore told Sebastianelli. “But being far away from home, every opportunity I get to come home, I try to seize the opportunity. I’m home now, and I feel like it’s a good time to give back.”
Moore spent time speaking to children at his event, giving every child a copy of his book and signing it for them afterward. The book is based on Moore’s own journey, starting as a kid with a passion for sports and turning their dream into a reality.
“I feel like doing a book, especially with pictures, simple words for kids to understand and read and just to keep it probably next to their bed on a nightstand. I thought this book would be good for kids, just to read and understand. I feel like it was a good idea, and I’m glad I did it,” Moore said.

Moore’s children’s book follows the story of himself and how he grew up to be a star football player. Themes of determination, teamwork and collaboration are weaved throughout the pages with the goal of teaching its reachers that the journey is just as important as the dream.
The Oregon quarterback wants to inspire as many children as possible, and will be able to do it on an even larger scale as the presumed starting quarterback for the Ducks, a national title contender, in 2025. Along the way, he left the children on-hand with a parting message.
“If you have a dream, chase it,” he said. “Many people think that the sky’s limit, but I say reach for the stars. I feel that as a kid, we have many things going on in our minds. Have sports, 100% energy running around throughout the day. But overall, I feel that having a dream — just go ahead and chase it. Anything’s possible in this world.”
