Oregon RB Dante Dowdell intends to enter NCAA transfer portal
Oregon running back Dante Dowdell intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. After spending the past two seasons under head coach Dan Lanning, Dowdell will look to continue his college football career elsewhere.
Dowdell appeared in just six games for Oregon this season, not getting too many touches when actually on the field. He had 17 carries for 90 yards, averaging over 5.0 YPC. A touchdown did come in the blowout win against Portland State, being the highlight of the running back’s year.
Wherever Dowdell winds up, he will have three years of eligibility remaining. The 2022 season was used to take a redshirt before getting his feet wet in 2023. A fresh running back originally from SEC country usually means there will be plenty of suitors.
Dowdell played high school football at Picayune (MS) Picayune Memorial, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 139 overall recruit in the 2022 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
