Even though Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus lost to Southlake (Texas) Southlake Carroll 38-7, four-star wide receiver Ashton Cozart made a spectacular play in the win. The Oregon commit reeled in a 90-yard touchdown reception.

Cozart took off down the middle of the field as his quarterback lofted a throw to him. The wideout had a step on multiple defenders as he reeled in the catch, and then raced ahead of them for a long touchdown.

Cozart is the No. 160 overall prospect and No. 24 wide receiver in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 30 player in Texas.

A 6-foot-3, 190 pound prospect, Cozart was originally committed to Oklahoma. However, he flipped his commitment to the Ducks in May.

Cozart has an On3 NIL Valuation of $26K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Ashton Cozart On3 Scouting Summary

The following is the On3 Scouting Summary for Ashton Cozart:

“Receiver with a rare blend of suddenness and top-end speed who tracks the ball with ease downfield. Consistently posts strong testing numbers at combine setting with a 4.45 second 40-yard dash, 33-inch vertical and 10’8” broad jump at over 6-foot-2, 182 pounds. Also has a 6-foot-5 wing-span. Ran 10.96 in the 100 meters in 2021. Played his freshman season at Kennedy Catholic HS in Washington before moving to Texas in 2020.

“Can sink his hips at the top of his routes and has good feel and instincts with his route running in order to separate more efficiently. Contested catch ability is hit or miss, but not necessarily his game. Someone that can truly take the top off of a defense and constantly strike fear into an opposing secondary with every snap. Has not yet translated his physical ability over to the field on Friday nights to the level of a true top wide receiver prospect. Older for the class, turning 18 years-old during his junior year.”
