Why Bo Nix will finish regular season as a top five quarterback in college football
After a roller coaster three years at Auburn that was a tough stretch for the program as a whole, Bo Nix fled west and found a perfect new home with Pac-12 powerhouse Oregon. In one year as a Duck, Nix set a career-high in completion percentage by 10 points, completing 71.9% of his passes, while also besting his previous season-high in total touchdowns by 20 with 43 on the year.
It was just a fabulous season for Nix and he’s now back for one more ride in the green and yellow. Given his terrific 2022 campaign and the return of top pass catcher Troy Franklin, the hype is through the roof for Nix in 2023 and On3’s JD PicKell is buying every bit of it.
He recently ranked Nix fourth among his top quarterbacks in the entire country for this upcoming football season and gushed about his performance last fall. You can watch PicKell’s full breakdown right here or read his comments below:
JD PicKell ranks Bo Nix as one of the top QBs in the country
“Now the No. 4 quarterback for me, at the end of November, end of the regular season, it’s gonna be Bo Nix. Now Bo Nix from Oregon, new OC Will Stein coming over to call the offense. Kennedy Langham has gone to Arizona State to lead that whole operation forward and my bet for him, the bet that I’m making is that everything we saw last year with Bo Nix I believe was real.
“Because you saw good Bo. You saw bad Bo at Auburn. I think last year’s Bo was the real Bo. I mean, over 4,000 total yards, 29 touchdown passes, 14 rushing touchdowns, you know, what a season. Like, that’s Bo Nix being able to just totally relocate out of his home state of Alabama, you know.

“What that does for him, I think it provides confidence. I think now he’s finally comfortable. I think he finally is in his own zone. And I think all of those things create a really solid foundation for this coming season.
“It’s a new offense. I think it’ll be a similar offense for him schematically in terms of what they ask him to do. I think it’ll yield phenomenal results and I think Bo Nix is set to pop off yet again. We saw the numbers last year, it’s not a question anymore of, ‘oh, can Bo Nix do it? Can you do it consistently? He did it consistently last year.
“I think if Oregon wins a few more games last year, Bo Nix is probably in New York City for the Heisman Trophy. So with that being said, I think he picks up right where he left off last year. Bo Nix will be a top five quarterback in college football, mic drop, period, the end.”
