Troy Franklin limps off field with non-contact injury
Nothing in football is scarier than a non-contact injury, especially when grabbing in the area of a knee. The latest to fall to one of those was Oregon wide receiver Troy Franklin, right before heading into the locker room for halftime.
Franklin was wide open, connecting on a pass with quarterback Bo Nix. He caught the ball with his knee on the ground before getting back up. However, he immediately went back to the ground and began to grab his knee. Not something head coach Dan Lanning wanted in what was an otherwise successful first half from the Ducks.

Trainers helped Franklin on the field, as the wide receiver limped off. A scary sight for Oregon fans, as the program’s top wide receiver looked to be in a ton of pain.
UPDATE: In positive news for Oregon, Franklin was back on the field before the second half began, warming up. He seems to be okay.

More on Troy Franklin
Franklin has been Oregon’s best receiver this season, leading the team in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. However, he was having a quiet afternoon against Cal, only having two receptions for 22 yards — including the one he got injured on.
Heading into the game, Franklin had 35 catches for 561 yards and five touchdowns. The wide receiver has been crucial in the Ducks’ offense excelling in Year One of Dan Lanning after having a quiet true freshman season. Franklin has been crucial in Nix becoming the player he has while in Eugene.
If there is any kind of serious injury for Franklin, it would be a major loss for the Ducks. A crucial rivalry game against Washington is coming up, as Lanning’s team still controls its destiny in the Pac-12. Remaining healthy will be critical down the stretch.
